The Children’s Home
The Children’s Home in Kathmandu, Nepal
HFN Children’s Home is a safe and loving haven for 15 children, aged 4 to 18, located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. Managed by David and Mariya Prasain, the home provides a nurturing environment filled with love, shelter, and education.
Many of these children have lost one or both parents, been abandoned, or suffered abuse. At HFN, they are given not just a home, but hope for a better future.

A Typical Day at the Children’s Home
Life at the home is rooted in love, structure, and joy.
Morning Devotionals to start the day with peace
Household chores and homework
Nutritious breakfast before school
School time — escorted by Mariya and volunteers
Evening homework, playtime, and devotion
Dinner, followed by relaxation and bedtime
This routine fosters discipline, spiritual growth, and a sense of family.
Saturdays & Fun with Volunteers
Saturday is a day of rest and joy. After church service and Sunday school, volunteers can spend quality time with the children. You can:
Lead arts and crafts or storytelling
Organize outdoor games
Teach singing or dancing
Help them cook doughnuts, momos, or local treats
Take them on excursions like museums or swimming pools
Volunteers say it’s the highlight of their trip—watching the children laugh, learn, and light up with joy.
A New Home, A Fresh Start
In September 2020, the Children’s Home moved to a new, purpose-built facility. This modern home provides:
A secure, happy, and caring environment
Separate volunteer quarters on the top floor
A private lounge for volunteers to relax and connect
This space fosters both child development and volunteer engagement.
